Caring for your Christmas tree
Give it a drink… Before positioning your tree in it’s new home all dressed for Christmas, have a look at the bottom of the tree to see if the base of the trunk has sealed since it was cut. If it has, then take 5cm off the base and then put it outside in water to hydrate for at least one day.
Sit it comfortably… Choose a tree stand that holds plenty of water and that you can easily fit the base of the tree in without restriction that may damage the base and bark at the bottom of the tree.
Continued water supply at the base will help limit pine loss and keep your tree looking and smelling fresh. In addition, avoid removal of any of the tree’s bark as this will restrict water absorption.
Think about your location… try to position your tree out of the way of direct heat such as a radiator or a fire. The best space is in front of a window where it may get some fresh air…
and you can show your beautiful Christmas tree off to your neighbours!
About Rainbow Wood Farm
Rainbow Wood Farm is a 300 acre working farm, bed & breakfast, farm produce shop and seasonal Christmas barn. The farm is full of the character that you would expect of a 17th century Georgian dwelling.
The centre of the city of Bath is just a few minutes away but there are also many other attractions close by. The farm is adjacent to Rainbow Wood and the National Trust Bath Skyline walk. Across the road is the University of Bath with many of its sport facilities open to the public, including an Olympic-size swimming pool.
